Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Grades 8 and up
On February 12, Cupid Day, Samantha Kingston wakes up and dresses her best in a sexy Cupidish outfit - the same outfit as her best friends Lindsay, Ally, and Elody will be wearing. Throughout the school day, she happily receives roses from friends and admirers, flaunting her popularity to those unlucky enough to receive only one - or no - roses at all. Life with her best friends is perfect, even if her boyfriend Rob writes her a lame note to accompany his rose. After school, Sam and the gang head to Ally's house, getting dressed for a kegger, downing vodka and laughing it up. The party doesn't turn out as great as it could have, but laughing with her friends & making fun of others is all worth it for Sam. After a social hazing winds the party down a little bit, Sam and the others hop into Lindsay's Range Rover and, laughing, begin the drive home.
Then, suddenly, the car swerves into the oncoming lane. Sam sees two white lights coming at her, hears Lindsay yell something, the screeching of metal, the car crumple.
But Sam's story isn't over yet. She keeps waking up, reliving Cupid Day over and over again. At first, she doesn't mind... what can be worse than death?
