Save the Rain for a Sunny Day

Visit the Library to see a sample of the rain barrels on sale through the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District.
A rain barrel connected to your downspout—also known as a rain bank—is a great way to keep stormwater out of the system and to cut down your water bill! Because you are collecting right off the roof, it has few contaminants and is perfect for watering the garden.

Summer Reading
Summer reading programs drew to a close and it was quite a story. More than 1,000 children participated -- one of the highest enrollments ever. A record number of sixth-graders participated, along with record numbers of students from Oak Terrace, Edgewood and Northwood schools. Kids read books, discussed them with Library staff, played games and won prizes.
120 adults and teens participated in a program of their own this summer. Readers turned in brief reviews to be entered in weekly drawings. To cap off a summer of reading, one lucky reader won the grand prize - - tickets to Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Join us again next summer for more reading.
